Lecture on religiosity of black teens at UNCW next week

Next week, I’m planning on attending a lecture at the University of North Carolina Wilmington on the family’s influence on the religious identity of African American adolescents.

Dr. Linda Halgunseth, a research associate at Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Human Development and Family Studies will give the lecture titled “Religiosity of African American Adolescents” 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in room 1008 in the CIS building on campus. UNCW’s psychology department and the Upperman African American Cultural Center are co-sponsoring the event.

Check back for an article next week on what I learned there.

  1. Congratulations, Amanda, on your new assignment. As you may remember, I am the person who talked to you about the possibility of putting my blog, “The Paper Pulpit” in the Star-News online edition once again. It appeared in the Star-News for the twelve years I was a pastor in Wilmington at the Temple Baptist Church. It still appears in the online version ot the North Carolina Baptist state journal, “The Biblical Recorder.” Thanks for using it once or twice prior to leaving the Star-News. I wish you well in your new place of service. I am putting your web site on my desktop and will follow your work there.

  2. Hey Del!
Thanks so much! If you’re willing to re-publish some of your posts here, let’s talk. Or maybe your could write on another religious subject of interest to you. I’m open to it. Just let me know if you want to blog! – Amanda
