That most wonderful time of the year is here. This week alone is packed with holidays – Hanukkah and the winter solstice and Christmas.
So to help you celebrate, if you’re so inclined, we included just a few Christmas/solstice-related events around the Wilmington area this week.
The Winter Solstice…A Service of Light is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Unity of Wilmington, 717 Orchard Ave. Details: (910) 763-5155 or www.unitywil.com.
River City Reformed Church will host the Historic Wilmington’s Annual Christmas Candlelight Service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 in St. Thomas Preservation Hall at 208 Dock St. downtown. The event will feature scripture readings, congregational hymn singing accompanied by organ, trumpets and a string quartet from the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Details: 910-520-0272.
Kure Beach First Baptist Church at 208 S. 6th Ave. in Kure Beach is holding its Christmas Eve Service at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24 with special audio/visual presentations, congregational singing, and a message. Details: 910-850-5272.
Calvary Chapel of Wilmington at 2831 Carolina Beach Road will have its Christmas Eve Service 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Please bring a dessert to share. Note: there will be no church service on Dec. 25. Details: 791-1858.
Covenant Moravian Church will host its traditional Christmas Eve Love Feasts at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 24 at 4126 S. College Road. Details: 799-9256.
Sea Gate Baptist Church at 6115 Oleander Drive is hosting a Christmas Day Traditional Meal on Sunday, Dec. 25 after the 11 a.m. service for anyone in the Wilmington area. Details: 791-8943.
Port City Community Church will have three services on Christmas Eve at 2 p.m. 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. at 250 Vision Drive. No children’s or youth ministries will be provided on Christmas Eve, but children can attend the service with their parents.
